CoveFinder SJI is the gateway edition to the archipelagos of the Pacific Northwest. Our initial focus with the SJI Edition is on the San Juan Islands, to include the numerous Washington State Marine Parks in the region!

What is the lure of the area?
Protected, inland waterways and numerous islands dedicated to parks that enable mooring, dock space, beach camping, hiking, crabbing/fishing, and untold adventures.

What are the challenges?
With so many options to explore, it is important to have a good overview of the area before you start burning fuel and hitting rocks.
Inland archipelagos in the Pac NW are notorious for the fairly extreme tides and currents. Add to this robust winds, waves, rain and fog...and you have the difference between a dream or a nightmare.
It is all in the planning!

Todays robust mapping capabilities enable mariners and adventurers alike to explore, investigate, and navigate any coastal island group around the world...armed with an arsenal of real-time information and imagery.

Archipelago is developed by Marc Lonergan Hertel, a former Navy SEAL and professional explorer (Nat Geo/Discovery Channel) with extensive experience researching expedition routes around the planet.

Marc shares his zeal for researching the archipelagos of the world with you as he develops state of the art multi-layered map systems that zoom out for perspective and zoom in through coastal bathymetrics, current NOAA nautical charts, terrain elevation maps on land, and finally satellite imagery with the NOAA chart/terrain map overlays!
